One of my first thoughts when I was
told my biopsy turned up with “cancerous cells” was why me. That only lasted for a few seconds when I
thought why not. Why does anything happen
the way it does in our lives. There are
things we can change, unfortunately this is not one of them. I can deal with it and hopefully come out on
the other side with a positive story to tell.
My positive attitude now at the beginning of this “journey” will
hopefully hold me in good stead to come through with great results.
My journey began when I found a lump just under my collarbone just after christmas. After numerous test results, they found where the primary cancer was, in my breast. After two, what seems like, long months, they finally started on chemotherapy on Thursday 7th March 2013. Two weeks earlier they were going to operate and remove my breast. I can definitely see why they call cancer a "journey". There are so many different emotions you go through. You don't take things for granted like you used to.
I had my hair cut short on the Saturday before I started chemo. On Saturday 16th March 2013 I had it shave for the Shave for the Cure fundraiser that my local video store was holding. A lovely lady named Yasmin wanted to raise some money and shave her head for me. I couldn't believe it. She wanted me to shave it for her to. When I finished shaving hers, I surprised her by asking her to shave mine too. She said no. Then she realised I was serious.
When I work out how to put photos on here I will add them.
